Memory Hooks

That Mean Business

Taglines are also called memory hooks. I think the term memory hook is much more descriptive. This is precisely the effect ( hooking them ) you want to achieve.

Whether speaking to someone, using your business card or some other type of communication, you need to have a short, snappy phrase that reminds them of you after you are gone.

A phrase that plants you, your service or product in their memory. There are phrases like this in your mind right now. I found several samples at Amazon for you to check out...

You simply cannot get rid of them. They are there permanently.

Don’t believe me?

What time is it? My Timex says it’s noon.

Nice watch. It takes a lickin and keeps on _______.

Let’s get together. Let’s go to McDonald’s.

Because you deserve ... __ ______ ______.

It’s right beside the Fed Ex store. You used FedEx right?

For mail that absolutely, positively ___ _ __ ______ __________!

I’ll hop in my BMW.

It’s the Ultimate _________ ________.

Or we can go to Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Their chicken is finger ________ ________!

We will drink a Coke together. Ah yes, Coke.

It’s the pause ______ __________.

Do you see what I mean?

Want some more? Go to brand taglines.

Yes, but these are big companies, with a huge budget for advertising. You may be a small one-person shop. Most small businesses in America are less then 10 people. You can’t match the big name's marketing firepower.

You can still reel in your prospects and profits. The key is to look for what is uniquely you and hook into that.

This can be done using:

  • Your name
  • Your company name
  • The type of business you provide
  • Rhymes
  • Jingles
  • Slogans
  • Business Sayings
Ready to give it a try?

Let’s look at your name and your company’s name.
