Famous Proverbs

"The wisdom of the wise and the experience of ages may be preserved by quotation"

Famous proverbs have been used in all cultures throuhout history. The one above was uttered by Benjamin Disraeli. Short, to the point and full of meaning , they can sink into our mind and pop up at just the right moment. Since this website is aimed at making your business more profitable and your life more enjoyable, proverbs are a great way to get free counsel from some of the greatest minds of history.

A book is a garden, an orchard, a storehouse, a party,
a company by the way, a counselor, a multitude of counselors
- Henry Ward Beecher

The same can be said of short famous proverbs. Kind of like a book shortened to a tweet on twitter. A few words with a big impact.

A classic quote on readers can easily be applied to those of us that appreciate a meaty proverb.

Which one are you?

Readers may be divided into four classes:

  • 1. Sponges, who absorb all that they read and return it in nearly the same state, only a little dirtied.
  • 2. Sand-glasses, who retain nothing and are content to get through a book for the sake of getting through the time.
  • 3. Strain-bags, who retain merely the dregs of what they read.
  • 4. Mogul diamonds, equally rare and valuable, who profit by what they read, and enable others to profit by it also.
  • -Samuel Taylor Coleridge
